Nestled beneath the Phoenix skyline and suspended in time, The Square is a striking location for your occasion. It features historical architecture and green landscape with unique spaces for personal, group, community, nonprofit, and corporate gatherings.
Consider a small event on the porch of the Rosson House, or a larger event within the Lath House Pavilion and surrounding lawns. The adjacent historical architecture, rose garden and lush grounds are perfect backdrops for all occasions. For your convenience, we do not require renters use preferred vendors, making this an ideal spot to make your event entirely your own.
Rental Spaces
Lath House Pavilion
Consider this contemporary structure, influenced by 19th century concepts of a botanical conservatory and gazebo. Perfect for a large number of guests, the Lath House Pavilion boasts 12,800 square feet; plenty for dining, dancing, and entertainment. This space is excellent for weddings, large birthday parties, dances, fundraisers, proms, family reunions, or corporate events; as well as festival and community events. A prep catering kitchen is available.
Meeting Rooms
Meeting rooms are also available for your next board meeting, club meeting, small birthday party, or other event. The North Meeting Room contains a whiteboard for lectures and presentations, and holds forty theater style. The South Meeting Room has a large conference table, and can accommodate twenty people.
Rosson House Museum
The Rosson House Museum is a magnificent two-story Queen Anne-Eastlake brick home. Rich, red glass transoms in the front rooms cast a magical aura. An opulent staircase descends to a parquet floor in the entryway, making this an ideal spot for a small intimate affair. Outside, a spindled moon gate arch frames the wrap-around front porch. Popular with local photographers, the House is a genuinely beautiful backdrop for small wedding ceremonies.

Availability for Fall of 2026 is very limited. We are no longer booking events for Fall 2025 – Spring 2026.
Our organization does not schedule rentals between June and September. May event rentals are subject to weather. For details on specific dates, please complete the Event Rental Form and our staff will reach out to explore the options with you.

General Inquiries
Thank you for your interest in The Square PHX! We are committed to providing professional quality service to make every rental experience enjoyable and unique. Our one-of-a-kind rental spaces are ideal venues for beautiful and unforgettable events.
Permits & Fees
City permits are required to serve alcohol (price varies depending on if you intend to sell) and to have amplified music ($10). Permits may be obtained by appointment from the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department.
Additionally, the City requires that events serving alcohol must hire an off-duty police officer or a City approved security company to serve as security while the alcohol is being served.
Capacity
Lath House Pavilion: up to 500 persons in banquet-style or 1000 persons in theater-style arrangement.
Rosson House Museum: Up to 30 persons in the foyer area, with standing room only.
Preferred Vendors
The Square PHX does not require renters to use specific vendors. Our staff has a list of preferred vendors if you need reccomendations.
Rental Process
An additional, refundable $800 damage deposit is required and is due with the rental fee upon signing of the contract. The security deposit will be refunded after your event is completed, if the venue is returned to its original condition and setup/teardown takes place within your agreed rental time. A rental contract will be drafted with the deposit payment upon request and availability.

How Rentals Support The Square
Our organization is a 501c-3 non-profit. The revenue from special events directly fund The Square and the Rosson House Museum, our educational exhibits, programs, and preservation of these beautiful local landmarks.
Frequently Asked Questions
Wedding Venue Inquiries
We know that planning a wedding can take time and a lot of energy. You may have questions during our non-office hours or whenever our event staff isn’t available. Here are a few that are most popular.
How much does it cost to rent the space?
The price for the space will vary depending on the day of the event, the hours of the event, and the time of the year.
How do I secure the date I want?
Facility rentals are provided on a first-come, first served basis. Dates cannot be fully reserved until a rental agreement is signed and payment is received.
Our soft holds can be placed at any time and last up to 1 month after being placed. Our hard holds are a $100 fee (that will be knocked off your total event rental fee when the contract is signed) and last up until 6 months out from the event.
Our holds do not act as a contract, and The Square PHX reserves the right to deny rentals as they see fit.
The Square does not book weddings less than 6 months in advance of the requested event date
How far in advance may I book my event?
18 months in advance
How many people does the space accommodate?
The Lath Pavilion space can hold up to 1000 guests. However, if you are planning on having a sit-down meal service (with tables and chairs) the maximum guest capacity is about 500.
When can I start setting up for my event?
Your contracted start time is when you and your vendors are allowed to start setting up. If you or any of your vendors start to set up before your contracted start time, we will deduct from your refundable security deposit.
May we bring in our own vendors?
By all means, yes! We want your event to be as special and unique as you are. You can bring in your own vendors but can also provide our preferred vendors list if you need recommendations.
May we bring in our own caterer?
Yes you may and they don’t have to be a professional catering company, we understand that sometimes families may gift you catering or can provide catering options.
May we bring in our own alcohol?
Yes! Providing your own alcohol will likely save your budget and allow you to serve unique or signature drinks, but you must provide it to guests free of charge.
How late can my event be scheduled for?
Set up and teardown time is included in your contracted time frame. All music needs to be off at 11pm per the amplified sound permit and the event itself must be over by 12am midnight. The earliest you can rent the space is 6am and the lastest is 12am.
***There are also à la carte options for events lasting less than 8 hours.
Are there any decorating restrictions?
We encourage our clients to get creative with their décor. We want your event to be as special and memorable as you imagine it will be. There are only a few things we ask that you take into consideration:
Hanging decorations:
Although decorations may be draped and hung from the wooden rafters and other features of the building, please do not hang any decorations (large or small) from the electrical equipment, electrical conduit, water pipes or air ducts. We ask you use staples or push pins to secure decor to the wooden structure rather than nails or screws to avoid splintering the wood.
Candles:
If you plan on decorating with candles or tea lights, they must be enclosed in a glass container that is higher than the flame.
Do you have rentals, tables, and chairs?
No we don’t provide rentals of tables and chairs, but we have a vendors list of great companies that do provide tables and chairs, along with other rental items.
Where can my guests park?
On most days, your guests can park in the Heritage Garage, unless it is closed for a large event. There is a parking fee, which can increase during special event days. To obtain a group of discounted passes, you would need to contact ACE Parking Management, Inc. and ask if you can purchase validated/reduced tickets for your guests. The Square PHX does not manage the garage and cannot arrange for deals with parking management.
What am I responsible for at the end of my event?
You (and your vendors) are responsible for removing items you brought in and would like to keep at the end of the event. All trash must be removed–either disposed of in the dumpsters in the parking lot or offsite. Failure to remove trash may incur an additional charge or loss of deposit.
For Photographers
Please note that we host events (weddings/social events/corporate events) throughout the year. When we do host events, they will be listed on our Events Calendar. Please check that and hover over the event for that date and see if there are any restrictions.
Public Event: This is usually a public and ticketed event, which will have liquor (huge possibility), which means they are probably using a way to have minors come into their event (wristbands etc) and if you walk in, it could harm them, their sales and they may have to shut their event down. You will need to use either the Science Center or any other spot in the area, but be mindful of the tenants and their space.
Private Event: For private events it usually means a wedding or a non-ticketed, invite only event (wedding/birthdays/baby showers). For these types of events, you can take pictures on the Square but not in front of the Rosson house (any area around the Rosson House) and no longer in front of the Visitor Center (carriage house). You will have to take pictures using the surrounding area and/or the Science Center.
Please note that if we ask you to leave or go to another area we will do so with tact and common courtesy and we ask the same from you.
